RebelYard Theatre Collective, Inc.

RebelYard Theatre Collective Needs You!

Through the years Philadelphia has earned a reputation for producing some of the finest and most adventurous theatre in America, buoyed by a talented pool of actors, directors, designers, writers, and educators.

In our current economy, however, the theater is fighting for its livelihood more than ever; and those who might benefit the most from access to it, who aren’t yet aware of its offerings, may find themselves without it. This is why I, along with my Drexel University classmates; Rashni Stanford-Smith, Nadia Harry, and Kendra Dobson; founded RebelYard Theatre Collective.

RebelYard is not about stylish sets, flashy lights, and big musical numbers; it is about giving young artists the space to experiment with and learn about the craft of theater, and educating the public on how to unlock its potential even; if the only tools at their disposal are a handful of stools in a small black box space.

Even that modest mission, however, brings with it a cost, which is why we hope you will consider supporting RebelYard with even a $5 donation as we embark on our first full season of activities. By building the RebelYard community one supporter at a time, dollar by dollar, we can make RebelYard a true company of the community, one committed to bettering it through the gift of theatre.

For more information on RebelYard’s work and the people behind it, visit our website at RebelliousStage.org, and please consider making a small donation today through our website or by following the PayPal link located in the "About" section of RebelYard's Google Profile page. We are also accessible through Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and YouTube.

On behalf of the staff and board at RebelYard, thank you for helping us stage the rebellion!

Sincerely,

Corey A. Stephens,

RebelYard’s Mission

RebelYard seeks to enrich the lives of its audiences by inspiring greater cultural and social awareness; through its creation of thought provoking, experimental theatre. Theatre that becomes more accessible as it rebels against the conventional and commercial constraints that may otherwise leave an audience un-represented or hinder its pure theatrical experience. Through the use of special programs and outreach RebelYard hopes to broaden its reach within the community that it serves beyond the generic creative-scope!”
